SYDNEY WOOL PRICES FIRM. COMPETITION WELL SUSTAINED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.10 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 12. At the wool sales to-day 11,860 bales were offered, 11,019 being sold, as well as 1337 disposed of privately. Prices were very firm at the closing rates of last week. Competition was well sustained by Bradford, Japan, France and Germany. Crossbreds showed a hardening tendency. Greasy Merino made 141 d per lb. The average price of wool last week was £lO Ils lOd per bale, or 7.9 - per lb. The Australian average for the first three months of the present season was £9 14s 2d per bale, or 7.4 d per lb. DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. SMALL REDUCTION IN VALUES. The Dairy Board’s London office reports the following prices ruling on Friday, those for the previous week being shown in parentheses: BUTTER. STOCKS, ARRIVALS, ETC. The Empire Marketing Board’s estimate of the stocks of all butters is 787,220 boxes/ as compared, with 828,584 boxes & year ago. Arrivals last week included 900 tons from Russia, 430 .tons from Poland, and the Baltic States, and 7000 boxes from Canada. Deliveries for the week and quantities in store were: Deliveries. Stocks. FROZEN MEAT PRICES EASIER. SALES DIFFICULT TO MAKE. Lamb market: Prices easier; trade slow owing to largo supplies of homekilled lamb and heavier arrivals of new season’s Australian lamb. Mutton market: Wethers'weaker. Sales are difficult’ to make. Ewes, market quiet and prices slightly weaker. Beef market: Unchanged, but there is rather more inquiry. -New Zealand porker pigs: Meeting with slightly better demand, but home-killed supplies are still heavy. New Zealand baconer pigs: Purely nominal.
