COLLECTION OF RATES
POSITION IN INGLEWOOD COUNTY. ONLY 6 PER GENT UNPAID. Up to yesterday the Inglewood County Council had collected 94.03 per cent, of the outstanding nites levied for 1930-31. A statement submitted by the clerk showed that since March 31 arrears of rates for that year totalling £llBl had been paid, reducing the arrears from £2047 to £866 on October 6. There were penalties totalling £lB2 outstanding An analysis showed that ordinary rates and penalty (including good Crown property) totalled £668, Crown property rates (very doubtful) £282, Native rates £35 18s lid, and penalties only £59 Is 7d. The balance of the 1930-31 rates considered reasonably collectable amounted to £578. Of the current year’s rates (1931-1932) ttp to October 6 £826 18s Id bad been paid, on which a 2} per eent. rebate of £2O 9s 8d had been allowed. During August .and September, in response to letters and arrangements, £302 9s 3d had been paid.
