CHASED OVER ROOFTOPS
TWO-UP SCHOOL ALARMED. A SYDNEY SENSATION. A sudden arrival of a squad of detec* fives at a street at Ultimo recently caused considerable excitement, says a Sydney newspaper. A “two-up” school was hastily abandoned, and the players fled as the police party arrived, but the detectives had to let the “scholars” escape while they continned on to & house some distance? away. The house was quickly surround- > ed and entered, and thereupon three younc men were seen to leave the house and clamber over the rooftop. They, were all pursued and arrested at revolver. The police equad were investigating the theft on the previous night of a, motor-truck belonging to Chun Sun, S Chinese merchant. The truck, which had been loaded with about £7O worth O? silk and other fabrics, was stolen the city, and was later found abandon* ed, minus the goods, as Camperdown. Their Inquiries led the detectives the house at Ultimo, and while some en< tered the premises others remained at the front and the rear. One man whd clambered out of the front of the housSj on to the roof was bailed up by @ detective, and the other two who emerged on to & roof at the rear, wet® "covered” by another officer. They were arrested. Subsequently a search of tW house disclosed most of Chun Sun’s stolen goods.
