DRIVER’S REMARKABLE ESCAPE.

KHANDALLAH STATION COLLISION

.Wellington, Last Night. Escaping miraculously from a railway engine which collided with the motorvan he was driving at the crossing to the north of Khandallah railway station this afternoon, • William Green, Johnsonville, suffered nothing more serious than cuts. The van was considerably n damaged, portion being thrown on to the Khandallah railway station. '

The motor-van, owned by S. F. Beaumont, baker, Johnsonville, was on the rails when the engine stalled. Tho train, which had left Johnsonville for Wellington at 4.49 and was nearing Khandallah station, crashed into the van, pushing the vehicle a distance of about 30 yards. The front wheels became separated from the body of the car and were tossed oh to the station platform, damaging one k of the seats there. / ■ -j ; ■; v"-
