z Nelson, Aug. 22. On July 24 Alexander James Churton and Herbert Barrington left Christchurch in a car intending to travel up the east coast and across to Reefton to get work. However, neither reached the destination, for on the trip the pair committed a series of thefts at various places to which they pleaded guilty and were committed for sentence ' at the Wellington Supreme Court. Barrington also pleaded guilty to several thefts at Christchurch,
