RAHOTU FOOTBALLERS’ BALL
AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS. A standard exceeding that of previous years and making the task of succeeding committeess more difficult, was achieved by the committees responsible for organising this. year’s Rahotu footballers’ annual ball, which was held in the Rahotu hall last night. Artistic taste combined with deft hands had transferred the interior of the hall into a striking setting over which were suspended streamers of black and ■white, the club’s colours. The walls were decorated with punga ferns and flowers, while here and there a mirror reflected the many beautiful dresses a? their ■wearers whirled around. A line of multi-coloured electric lights arranged around the walls just where the ceiling streamers met added to the effet. Prominent on the stage was the club’s monogram in silver letters on a black ground with a football as the’ insignia of office. The floor was in perfect order. Tempted by the latest dance “hits” played by Henderson’s Star Orchestra, the large crowd had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Messrs. W.. Watsdn, N.' O. Andrews, R. Norgate and P. Chapman as masters of ceremony saw to it that everyone-was made to feel at home. A novelty in the shape of a scliottische competition attracted over 30 entries, the judges, Me.sdames J. Young, A. O. Penwarden and W. Waswo, adjudicating Mr. J. Hooker and Mrs. C. Green as winners, with Mr. S. Small and Mrs. E. Gray runners-up. Supper extras were played by Misses D. Norgate, McCandlish and L. Gilhooley and Messrs.. R. Norgate and McCandlish. ■ The supper room was a picture. Mrs. C.
