This precipitate action is the culmination of a dispute concerning wages. The company’s previous practice has been to make wages up to a standard of 18». per day, provided the volume of output was satisfactory, but a few days ago it refused to continue the custom, holding that the fault of lesser production lay with the men, who contended that the deficiency was due to the difficult nature of the section.
