WOMEN CRICKETERS
HANDICAP IN BOWLING. London. Aug. 11. Women will never be able to compete on equal terms with men in cricket because they cannot pull their arm back to throw like a man, says Jack Hobbs in an article in the Weekly Dispatch. Woman is a trier, he admits, and her interest in cricket has grown enormously since the war. This may account for her desire to emulate men, but the highest standard of their game will never be the same. The women’s games will always lag without fast bowling. While admitting that in tennis and golf women can hold their own, Hobbs says these sports are in a different category physically, and women are better equipped for them.
