Wellington, Last Night.

Unemployment registrations for the week-ended on August 10 numbered 48,670, an apparent increase of 274 compared with the previous week’s total. The number of men placed under the No. 5 scheme was 35,504, 5397 were engaged under scheme 4A, and 997 under scheme 48. Registrations in the main ’ centres were: Auckland 7030, Wellington 4902, Christchurch 5241, Dunedin 2775, Invercargill 1245.
