Rec. 8.30 p.m. Tokio, Aug. 14. Mr. F. C. Chichester, the New Zealand airman, left Kagoshima at 10.25 this morning en route to the, Kasumigura naval airfield 50 miles northward of Tokio. He will probably re-fuel on the Katsuura coast 100 miles south of Osaka.
Mr. Chichester is expected at Kasumigaura at 7 this evening. . He will be welcomed by Japanese naval authorities. He will then rest a few days before proceeding to America via the Kurile Islands and Alaska.
Although last evening’s examination of the airman failed to explain clearly the reasons of the delay- in the flight from Shanghai, the authorities allowed Mr. Chichester to continue, reserving further inquiries till later. The authorities undertook the examination to ascertain if Mr. Chichester, had landed anywhere en route.
