DISTRICT NURSE WORK

NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIETY. REVIEW OF THE PAST YEAR. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth District Nurse Asociation was held last night, when the Mayor, Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths, presided over an attendance of ten members. The motion for the adoption of the report (previously published) and bal-ance-sheet was moved by Airs. T. C. Fookes, seconded by Mrs. \V. L. Newman and carried. The chairman congratulated the officers of the association on another successful year. There was no doubt that Sister Gill had had an exceptionally busy yesar, he said. Those who were associated with her and with the district nurse committee knew there were scores of families who were deprived of the bare necessities 'of life. Ho referred to the splendid assistance given by the Commercial Travellers’ Association. Many homes were happier for their efforts. The members of the various sewing circles were also doing good work. Tlie balance-sheet revealed a situation that was satisfactory when the troublous year which had just passed was taken into consideration. Mr. Griffiths commended to those who were not present the need for assisting the association during the coming year. Tho election of officers resulted: Patroness, Mrs. F. E. Wilson; president, Mrs. IT. V. S. Griffiths; committee, Mesdames W. L, Newman, W. Clarke, C. Berg, A. Bailey, R. Hawkins, G. Loveridge, W. Guild, T. C. Fookes, J. T. White; advisory board, Messrs. E. Holden, T. G. Hirst, H. V. S. Griffiths; auditor, Mr. R. Ellis; secretary, Mrs. T. M. Avery, Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. IL C. Baker for permitting the use of his shop as a depot, the driver of Mason’s bus for delivering parcels, the needlecraft circle of tho Taranaki Women’s Club, Sister Gill for her excellent work during a troublous year, the auditor and secretary, the outgoing officers and all who bad assisted.
