MUNGANA LEASE CLAIM
ADMISSIONS BY DEFENDANTS.
MINING SHARES TRANSACTIONS.
By Tslerraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.30 p.m. Brisbane, Aug. 5. In the course of the Queensland Government’s action against E. G. Theodore, W. McCormack and others to recover £30,000 in connection with the Mungana leases, Mr. McGill, counsel for the Crown, read answers by the defendants to the Crown’s interrogatories. Goddard had admitted that Reid had allotted 1250 shares in Mungana Mines, Ltd., to him “in consideration of friendship, advice and assistance which Goddard had given him in mining undertakings.” ' . McCormack admitted his interest in the Mungana mines began in December, 1917, under. a verbal agreement with Reid. McCormack received £10,596 for his 3476 shares, which was paid to the company by the Queensland Government. . Mr. McGill also tendered answers by McCormack showing that he paid various substantial sums to Theodore between April, 1922, and July, 1925) the largest of which was £l6OO. Theodore did not give receipts. Theodore in turn confirmed the receipt of these sums. The case was adjourned.
