Christchurch.—Canterbury beat Wairarapa by 2S points (seven tries, two of which were converted, and a penalty goal) to 17 (two tries, one of which was converted, and three penalty goals). The visitors were at least the equal of the home team in the forwards but were outclassed in the backs, Palmerston North. —Horowhenua beat Maiiawatu by 9 to 8 in a game that was Manawatu’s to within five minutes of the final bell.
