MANAIA HOCKEY DANCE. I

The Manaia Ladies’ Hockey Club held a very successful ball last week,. when there was, in spite of unfavourable weather, a, very large atendance. The committee devoted a great deal of time to decorating the hall in streamers the colours of the club, yellow and black, set off with , balloons of various shades. The stage was decorated with greenery and mirrors hung on the walls. The committee in charge of 'this work consisted oi Messrs. V. F. Winter, W. Budd, J. Payne, O. W. Abbott and R. Hill, Misses M. Wilson, M. McKay, N. Gopperth, N. Bennett, Margaret and Maudie Cosgrove, R. and M. Adlam; Wills’ orchestra played the dance music, extras being contributed by Misses N, Ma toe, K. Cosgrove and T. Jones. Messrs. L. Hughes and J. Payne were masters of ceremonies. Mr. T. Miller presented trophies won by.club members. Miss M. Wilson obtained the silver button for the best forward and Miss N. Gopperth a silver button for the beet back in the team. Both trophies , were donated by Mrs. W. T. Wells, the president of the ladies’ club. A silver button donated by Mrs. T. Miller for the most improved player was presented to Miss R. Adlam. Mr. Miller congratulated the winners and wished the club a success - ful future. > ' Supper was served under the supervision of the following ladies: Mesdames J. Hickey, J. Wilson,,N; Davis, W. Kerr, E. Gopperth, R. Franklin, E. Thomson, Misses M. Franklin, and L. Hill. The artistic decoration of the tables waB;.the work of Mrs. F. Walker. Miss M.
