INGLEWOOD NEWS
SEVERE ELECTRICAL STORM. . A severe storm passed over Inglewood at about 3.30 this morning. Thunder like the reports of heavy cannon and brilliant flashes of lightning which only lasted for a few minutes. Before a good attendance of hockey enthusiasts the Inglewood ladies defeated Stratford High School at Inglewood yesterday by. 7 goals to 5 in a fast, even game. Inglewood’s scores were shot by Miss R. Klenner (5) and Miss N. Hunt (2). Mr. R.Evetts refereed. The teams were afterwards entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. H Trimble, president of the Inglewood club and a vicepresident of the Taranaki association. On behalf of the Inglewood team Mr. R. Evetts thanked Mr. Trimble for his hospitality and the Stratford team for their game. Mr. Trimble and Miss Knight replied. Miss Knight also thanked Mr. Trimble for his hospitality. The Inglewood Ladies’ Hockey Club held an extremely successful 500 evening, sl/owing that the change from euchre was appreciated. Fourteen tables were occupied. Mr. L.. Old on behalf of the club thanked those present for their support. The prizewinners were Mrs. W. Worthington 1, Mrs. A. Codd 2; Mr. E. Spurdie 1, Mr. I. Dobson 2. Mr. E. Spurdie, who has been in the employ of Mr. Maetzig for the last six years, is opening a business in Waitara on his own account. Mr. Spurdie holds the senior bowling championship of the Inglewood Bowling Club and he will be very much missed in bowling circles in the town.
