KAKARAMEA DAIRY ANNUAL

PAYMENT OF ID AT MEETING. ADVANCE OF 11 l-3d PER LB FAT. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Kakaramea Co-operative Dairy Company was held yesterday, Mr. A. Pearce presiding over an attendance of over 30 shareholders.

The directors’ report stated that the price realised for the company’s cheese as a result of f.o.b. sales had enabled the directors to make an advance payment to suppliers of 11 l-3d per lb for butter-fat received over the season. A further payment of Id was paid at the meeting and the balance to credit of the appropriation account provides for a further small payment to 'be, made in the near future. Statistics for the season are:—•

Butter-making.—Pounds milk, 3,778,564; lbs fat, 185,777; lbs cream, 1324 J; lbs fat in home separated cream, 568.4; stand cream, 14,7991 b; stand fat, 8071.4 lb; lbs creamery butter, "4,236; overrun, 20.48; average cream te:t, 52.09; lbs whey butter, 10,932; milk test, butter, 4.91; average grade cheese, 91.289; average grade butter, whey, 88.544;, average grade 'butter, creamery, 92.988. Cheese-making.—Milk, 10,763,6571 b; fat, 451,999.51 b; average test, 4.2; lbs cheese, 1,191,569; lbs of milk to lb of cheese, 9.03; lbs of cheese to lb fat, 2.68; total milk, 14,542,2211'b; average test, 4.38; total fat for season, 638,344.9 lb; average fat per cow, 281'lb. The weight of butter made from each pound of butter-fat used for the manufacture : of butter was 1.20481 b. The weight of cheese made from each lb of butter-fat used in its manufacture was 2.681 b.

It was decided to increase the share capital by £lOOO to £19,000. Directors’ fees were reduced from £1 to 15s. Messrs Veitch and Clarke were reelected auditors at the same honorarium as before.

The retiring directors, Messrs J. Dwyer and K. Carmichael, were reelected, and Mr. P. W. Tong was elected to fill the vacancy caused through the resignation of Mr. F. S. Tarrant.

Votes of thanks were passed to the directors for the manner in which they had carried out the difficult .work of the year; and also to the manager and the factory staff.

WHENUAKURA DAIRY COMPANY

An average pay-out for the season of Hid for milk and Is for cream is disclosed in the report of the directors of the Whenuakura Co-operative Dairy Company. So far the average advance has been 19.94 d for milk and 10.7'5d for cream.

Statistics for the season are:—Pounds of milk received, 15,873,949; lbs of but-ter-fat, milk, 668,082; lbs of cream, 316,507; lbs of butter-fat, cream, 121,877; average test, milk, 4.218; average test, cream, 38.5; number of suppliers, 9'5; total charges up to f.o.b. ocean steamer, 3.32 d.

Cheese-making.—Pounds of milk 11,295,234; lbs of butter-fat, 456,100; lbs cheese made, 1,217,687 (543 tons 11 cwt Oqt 231 b); lbs of milk to 11b of cheese, 9.27; lbs of cheese to 11b butter-fat, 2.67; average test, 4.03.

Butter-making—Pounds of milk, 4,578715; lbs of butter-fat, milk, 211,982; lbs of cream received, 316,507; lbs of 'butter-fat, cream, 121,877; lbs of butter, 181 tons 7cwt Oqr 13'lb; over-run, 21.36; average cream test, 38.5; average milk test, 4.6; whey butter, 11 tons 3cwt.

MANGATOKI COMPANY’S SEASON.

The Mangatoki Co-operative Dairy Company’s directors state in their report that they note with satisfaction a further decrease this year in the cost of manufacture per lb of butter-fat to f.o.b. ocean steamer. Although this reduction has been in some measure brought about by the change from cheese to butter in February, the result reflects great credit on the careful management of the company’s operations. The directors recommend the payment of 5 per cent, interest on shares, which will absorb, from the amount standing to the credit of' appropriation account, the sum of £1370, or .201 d per lb but-ter-fat. Statistics for the seasofl are:—Total lbs milk received, 37,718,865; total lbs butter-fat received, 1,630,830 (includes 55011 b butter-fat from home separated cream); average test, 4.3 per cent.; total charges per lb 'butter-fat to f.0.b., 2.BScL Cheese-making.—Pounds butter-fat, 1,084,680; cheese made, 1277 tons 18cwt 3qr 261 b; yield, 2.64.

Butter-makjng.—Pounds butter-fat, '543,011; lbs butter, 659,410; over-run, 21.43 per cent; lbs butter-fat sold (part July, 1498; whey butter, 65,467; recovery of whey butter per ton of cheese, 521’b.

WAVERLEY PAY-OUT NEARLY HD.

FULL CREAM MADE EARLY STAGE.

The Waverley Co-operative Dairy Company’s directorate reports that the past year was a difficult and ilisappointing one. Although the output showed a considerable increase, the prices obtained were the lowest for many years, The directors decided early in the season to discontinue the manufacture of standardised cheese, this being strongly recommended by the company’s agents owing to the hostility shown by British buyers to the standardised product. Up to date payments per lb for butter-fat have been 9.60 d. A further payment of Id per lb will be available by the date of the annual meeting, and it is expected to make a still further payment on the completion of sales. Statistics for the season ire:—Total milk, 9,701,8551 b; total butter-fat, 422,1331 b; total average yield, 4.351. Butter-fat for cheese, 390,8551 b; cheese to milk, 9.31 b; cheese to butter-fat, 2.6631 b. Butter-fat for butter, 31,2781 b; butter made, 32,2421 b; over-run, 22.264; whey butter made, 21,1651 b.
