NEW PLYMOUTH MUSIC WEEK

OPENING EVENT ON SUNDAY. The second annual Music Week festival at New Plymouth will commence in the Opera House at 2.45 p.m. on Sunday. The inauguration will take the form of a festival performance of Haydn’s sublime oratoria “The Creation,” which will be sung by three specially selected soloists and the festival choir of 80 singers, accompanied by an orchestra of twenty. For the opening performance last year the Opera House was filled to overflowing, and it is expected that a similarly large audience will be present on Sunday. It will not be practicable to reserve seats for Sunday, but the whole of the dress circle will be held until 2.30 for holders of subscribers’ tickets. After that time the whole of the house will 1 ' be open to all, provided seats are available. For the band recital on Sunday evening admission will be by collection, and this also will be a popular programme. Reserving for the week night concerts may be done at Collier’s.
