Consequent upon the withdrawal of assistance by the Commonwealth Bank to the Government Savings Bank the employees of the latter institution will be rationed forthwith. There does hot appear to be any possibility of the Commonwealth Bank Board agreeing in any circumstances to the reopening of the negotiations with the Lang Ministry for taking over the' State Savings Bank, says a Melbourne message. “The negotiations have definitely ended,” declared Sir Robert Gibson, chairman of the board.
