Mrs. J. L. Weir was hostess at bridge on Wednesday afternoon. Those present were Mrs. L. Reeves, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Overtune (Hawera), Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Wylds, Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Carson and" Mrs. Morton.
Mrs. G. Cooper was hostess at tea on Thursday. Those present were Miss Parsons (Wanganui), Mrs. Page, Mrs. J. Hobbs, Mrs. Deacon, Miss Buchanan, Miss J. Buchanan (Hawera), Mrs. McWilliam and Mrs. Wilson.

BAND DANCE AT TIKORANGI.
SUCCESSFUL EVENING HELD.

The Waitara band held a very successful old-time dance in the Tikorangi hall on Tuesday night. There was a splendid attendance, the hall being thronged with dancers who made merry until the early hours of the morning. The music was supplied by Martin’s orchestra, while extras were played by Mr. McGregor (Waitara) and Miss Martin. The duties of master of ceremonies were capably carried out by Mr. W. Faull, while a number of ladies of the district kindly helped with the supper arrangements. Among the many dancers were: Mrs. B. Foreman, green figured Georgette and velvet coatee; Mrs. Davidson, black georgette; Mrs. Jupp, blue satin beaute; Mrs. Langley, golden satin; Mrs. R. Jury, green satin and velvet coatee; Mrsj Locke (Waitara), pink georgette and. lace; Mrs. H. Foreman, black georgette; Mrs. Martin, black frock; Mrs. McGregor, black frock and red coatee; Mrs. Kibby (Waitara), brown frock; Mrs. E. Foreman, green satin; Mrs. Bowater (Waitara), black frock and coatee; Mrs. C. Foreman, pink frock; Mrs. Michell (Waitara), green spotted velvet; Mrs. E. MONTHLY MEETING HELD. The Tikorangi Woman’s Institute held their monthly meeting on Tuesday afternoon, and although it was a cold wet day, there was a very good attendance. The afternoon was devoted to a euchre party, which proved very successful, all the members but the hostesses taking part. The prizes were won by Mrs. L. Sarten, first (6 games) and Mrs. Roy Jury second (5 games). The best sugar bag article was won by Mrs. J. Garner whoso beautifully worked cushion was much admired. There was a splendid array of articles entered. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Beaven and Maliy. During the month the residents of Tikorangi sent a lorry-load of vegetables to New Plymouth for those in need. This movement was started by the women of the institute, who wish to .sincerely thank Mr. R. A. Taylor, who kindly transported the vegetables from Tikorangi to New Plymouth free of charge.
