Mr. J. B. Richards, Stratford, has been appointed assessor to the Whangamomona County Council. Mr. J. S. Hickey, Opunake, has been appointed manager of the Taranaki B Rugby team, which is to play Wanganui B at Wanganui to-morrow. Mr. T. A. Bridge, of Manaia, hrs received a cable stating that his youngest son, Mr. R. E. Bridge, has passed his F.R.C.S. examination at Edinburgh University. He has now an appointment at the Glasgow Hospital. He was a pupil at the Manaia Public School. Mr. Guy Menzies, the young Australian who in January made the first successful solo flight across the Tasman ■Sea from Sydney to New Zealand, arrived in London recently. He is foreign representatives of Mr. Ernest C. Rolls, of the Princess Theatre, -Melbourne, and the St. Janies’ Theatre, Sydney, and will select artists for Mr. Rolls for Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. A. H. Andrews, who was captain of the New Plymouth High School Rimby team last season, and is now at Canterbury College, has been chosen as wing-forward in the Canterbury team to meet Southland to-morrow. Commenting on the selection the Christchurch Times remarks that the rejection of I. Crockett “will bring some criticism on the selectors, although Andrews is more versatile and speedy.”
Mr. P. A. Openshaw, at the Lepperton Dairy Company meeting yesterday referred to the absence through ill-health of Mr. H. B. Lepper, who as a director and chairman had been associated with the company almost since its inception 32 years ago. A motion of sympathy and wishes for a speedy recovery was passed by the suppliers. Mr. Lepper was unanimously re-elected chairman of directors and Mr. Openshaw deputy-chair-man. ~ '
