DEMAND FOR FARM LAND
SALES IN NORTH TARANAKI.
“BUSIEST DAY THIS YEAR.”
. “This is the busiest day I’ve had this year,” said a perspiring house and property agent in New Plymouth to a News representative late yesterday afternoon, and he proceeded to explain that he had had no less than seven different callers during the course of the day in search of property in which to invest capital. lie had been unable to cope with them all, and he referred two of them to other agents.
Farm properties and town businesses ■were in surprisingly good demand, he said. Yesterday morning he was successful in effecting, the sale of a North Taranaki farm property of 105 acres at £3B an acre, the purchaser providing £lOOO cash. One inquirer stated that he had £4OOO cash to invest, another £lOOO, and another £9OO.
An interesting feature of the recent business was tlie steady inquiry for Government bonds, he added. If the figures could be made available, the num* \b.er of people who had sought Government bonds during the last month or two would make surprising reading.
