WOMEN’S DIVISION
OAKURA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was an excellent attendance of members and guests lit the mbiltlily meeting of the branch, when Aire. Owen Penwarden gave a very interesting demonstration of fancy sowing, which was illustrated by some haiidsome pieces of her own handiWol'k. Having made generous provision of taw iliaterial, as well its the beautiful finished work, Airs. Penwarden soon had several pupils at work on different stitches, and a group of enthusiasts set to Work oh, and completed, posies, in the latest stylo and many colours. Afternoon tea was served, and the president (Mrs. Harris) asked that a very hearty vote of thanks be passed to Airs. PenWardeii. She said it had been one of the branch’s most successful afternoons, arid it appreciated the thoroughness with which Mrs. Peri warded had curried, out her demonstration, and her thoughtfulness in providing material oil Which members Could try preiitice hands. One very gratifying feattire was tliri presence of SOVei’al of the local farriiers’ daughters. The principal business for the branch was the appointment of a delegate to the New .Plymouth branch of tlie National 'Couileil of Woineii. Mrs. Harris was elected as delegate. It was agreed to invite one of the neighbouring branch presidents to conic to the next meeting, and give a report of the annual conference held recently in Wellington,
