Regarding reports that the butts of tickets in a small Christchurch art union were recently found in the refuse sent to the destructor, it has been explained that the public is adequately protected by Government supervision. In the art unions every butt has to be accounted for to the Government auditor, and every number must go in the draw, -.the butts themselves are not drawn, but numbered marbles are used. If there is a butt missing, then the head agent is required by the Government to find it or submit a dummy before tlie draw.
