CHEESE BUYING OFFERS
THE FIRST FOR MANY MONTHS.
PRICES IMPROVE FROM* s£d. to 6d.
One of the results of the low prices of dairy produce this season has been an absence of buying offers. Recently there was, however, some activity in the butter market, and a similar teiidency has been noted in cheese during the last-few days. ■ There has been a brighter tone for some weeks and the- war debt repayment holiday proposal has had a still further brightening effect, with the result that future prospects are said, to be much sounder than for some time. This has contributed to a renewal of confidence. Offers of s<d. were made at the end of last week, and. yesterday buyers were prepared to go to 6d. This is the best offer made for many months, and is roughly equivalent to the f.o.b. sales of butter reported some weeks ago by the Daily News at 12Jd. 4 ■ The extent of the buying' activity is not known. 1 '
