The Gisborne, Manawatu and South Canterbury (Hunt) meetings conclude the season after the Wellington meeting. • * ♦ * The committee of the Stratford Racing Club has resolved that Sunday training be discontinued, except in cases where approved by the course committee through the caretaker. • * * * Pouri, who was destroyed at Ellerslie yesterday, won the Wellington Steeplechase in 1928 and was weighted for that event this year. High Pitch has shown excellent form over hurdles this season, especially where the going has been heavy, and he should win a good race this winter. # «= * .* ' .

It appears that Standfast was made too much use of the first day of the Taumarunui meeting and faded out at the finish. He won well yesterday, but the victory was overdue. His last success was in October last year.
