ROTARY CLUB PRESIDENT
RETIREMENT OF DR. G. HOME.
NEW PLYMOUTH APPRECIATION.
Appreciative references to the way in which the retiring president of the New Plymouth Rotary Club, Dr. G. Home, had conducted the duties of the office during the past year* were made by. the new president, Rotarian C- H. Weston, at the gathering of Rotarians yesterday. The president’s motion that the club place on record its appreciation of Dr. Home’s services was carried by acclamation. The new president was welcomed in the customary manner. Dr. Home was a man of great possessions, said the new president; he was .the possessor of a great brain and a great heart. Mr. W’eston felt that they were all personally better for Dr. Home's year of office. In seconding the motion of appreciation, the vice-president, Rotarian R. W. D. Robertson, said he had been away during a portion of Dr. Home’s term of office and when he had come back he was certainly not less critical- but he had been especially impressed by the progress of the organisation. It had been a year of great pleasure and great profit to him, said Dr. Home. This had been largely due to the support he had received from all the members. He congratulated the Rotary Club in his successor in the office .and he did not see why the club should not prosper greatly under Mr. Weston’s aegis. Referring to his own term of office Dr. Home said he had taken up the position when the machinery of the club was functioning at its best and this had helped greatly. If the members or the club were happy, he was even more so.
Visitors to the weekly luncheon were Rotarian Duncan (Dunedin), Mr. F. W. Vickerman (Wellington) and Dr. Stevenson (New Plymouth). Committees for the ensuing year were appointed and two new members were elected.
