WAITARA BOWLING CLUB
SEASON “MOST SATISFACTORY.”
The committee of the Waitara Bowlin<r Club will report to the annual meeting of members to-morrow that the season was most satisfactory. For the first time in the clubs history the centre shield was won by the club This result could not have been achieved without the co-operation of all members of the club. The fact that for the first time the Waitara green was selected by the centre for tournament play was attributed to the condition of the green, and from the many complimentary remarks made by bowlers participating in the Taranaki open tournament the club feels it has a green to be proud of and an asset to the town. Thanks arc'vclue to Messrs. K. Young and J. Kempsell, the Saturday and Thursday selectors. As many as eight rinks werfi being played on . many occasions in the banner competitions, thus ensuring that most members had a game, a fact which the committee believes was wreatly appreciated. There is an increase of three in the membership this season, the total being 57 all told, against 54 last season. The results of the club competitions were: Championship ingles, C. Sampson; junior championship, E. George. “This season we commenced with a credit balance of £ll 10s. 6d., the committee states, “and finished -with £3(l IGs. Bd., the total receipts being £149 Ils. and the expenditure £124 4s. lOd. The committee records the valuable assistance rendered by the secretary during the season.” The committee recommends. that as many rinks as possible be again played during the coming season in the banner competitions.
