After brief welcomes had been extended by the president of the association (Mr. A. Morton), the Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. H. y. S. Griffiths) and the chairman of the entertainment committee (Mr. P. V. E. Stainton) an address was delivered by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. A. J. Murdoch), and the serious business of the conference commenced. A remit from the Mangatoki Dairy Company (South Taranaki) that in view of the present grave unrest in the dairy industry a co-ordination of the existing controlling bodies and the appointment of an administrative head is imperative was adopted by 137 votes to 98, and a committee is to be set up to-day to make recommendations to the conference at a later stage for the reorganisation of the industry with an administrative head.
