THIEF'S PLEA FOR LENIENCY FAILS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 20. Charles King, aged 43, who was remanded in the Supreme Court yesterday when be camcup for sentence, made a further attempt to-day to obtain a lenient sentence. The police, however, maintained that he was a dangerous and active criminal and his Honour said it was clear he should be restrained. The charge was of the theft of an overcoat and the sentence was six months’ imprisonment with King declared an habitual criminal.
