MAKING A WORK CABINET.
This small work cabinet can be made with a little help by any girl whowould like a place to keep her sewing and handwork. Secure a wooden box (a grocer can generally let you have one if there is not one in the house), a saw, a hammer, some nails and two pieces of wood, z to make shelves, to start with. Now begin by turning your box up on end, so that the opening faces you and so that the longest sides are the vertical ones. Measure off two shelves to fit in and saw them carefully. Nail two narrow strips of wood on the inside of your box for the shelves to rest on, and glue the shelves to them. If you now stencil and paint the outside of your box, and fix a little curtain on a rod in front to draw back when you need to get to the. shelves, and lastly line your shelves with some pretty shelf paper, you will have a very attractive little cabinet where all your sewing and handwork can be kept in perfect order. It is a good idea to carry out a colour scheme that matches with your room. The curtain is pretty if you have it plain and applique a flower on it to harmonise with whatever you stencil on your box. A DOG STORY. I have a blind friend, Peter Pan, who has a dog that I think is most intelligent. His name is Bobby, and he is up to all sorts of pranks. Before he has a biscuit he has to count up to six, then he has to say please and thank you by giving two short barks, one. for each word. When his mistriss picks up a box of matches he will jump up and snatch them from her for he understands that she is blind. He is also a very faithful creature.
