CONFERENCE AT PALMERSTON N. By Telysraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The North Island A. and P. associations in conference to-day elected the following officers: President, M r - J. M. James (Masterton); vice-prpsidents, Messrs. 11. B. Stuckey (Dannevirke) and J. T. K. Mitchell (Auckland); treasurer, Mr. M. A. Conway (Mariawaiu); executive, Messrs. McLaren (Masterton), Ross (Wanganui), Sandilancjs (Fei|ding), Richards (Levin), Vile (Marton), Washer. (Hawera), Lever (Tauranga) and Nelson (Whangarei). It was decided that once an entry was made and printed in the catalogue no substitution of another animal should be permitted. A hoggett was defined for show purposes as a sheep born after July 1 till December 31 the following year. It was agreed an exhibitor holding a purebred animal under lease should be recognised as the owner for the time being for show purposes. A lengthy discussion arose in committee on the question of licensing sideshowmen. Ponce Commissioner Wohlmhnn was present. The following remit was carried: That in view of a strongly expressed depiand by associations for police control of sideshowpien the Government be urged to pass legislation for the purpose of licensing them under police control. .... It was decided to standardise fat cattle classes so that entries could compete at each show without being regrouped, thus enabling exhibitors to move from show to show with the least trouble.

Two-tooth sheep, it wag agreed, should be eligible for all sheep championships at all shows held after December. The Meat Board will be agked to give consideration to the promotion of competition among A. and P. associations throughout New Zealand ffli’. frozen lambs to bo staged in London.
