LIVE STOCK MARKETS HEAVY ENTRIES AT ADDINGTON. fat SHEEP AND LAMBS IN DEMAND Christchurch, June 17. The entries at Addington to-day were again very heavy, those in the fat lamb and fat sheep section establishing a winter record second only to that of the market last week. Features were a declines of 9d a head for fat lambs, Is a head, for fat ewes and decreased fat pig values. Store sheep. —A small yarding of mixed appearance. It was a dragging sale for ewes without change in values. Wethers were in demand and sold well. Values were:—Good six and eight-tooth halfbred ew'es to 12s 6d; medium s.m. open woolled. ewes, 10s to Ils 6d; good. s.m. open W'oolled ewes to 12s 6d; medium two-tooth halfbred wethers to 10s 8d; backw-ard crossbred, 7s to 8s 6d; good six and eight-tooth half bred to 13s; ordinary to 9s Gd; good wether lambs to 9s 3d; ordinary ewe lambs to 9s; backward, 3s fid. to 6s 6d. Fat lambs. —An entry of 4600, and a keen sale with export competition keen throughout. However, values did not maintain last week’s level and there was an easing to establish values on a basis corresponding with export schedule rates. Values were: —'Show lambs to 2Ss 4d; extra prime, 21s to 235; prime, 19s to 20s 6d; medium, 16s 9d to 18s 6d; light, 13s 6d to 16s 6d; store lambs, 10s 6d to 13s.

Eat sheep. —An entry of 9300 and a steady sale. Export buyers operated keenly. Values were: Extra prime wethers to 20s; prime, IQs 6d to -19 s; medium, 14s to 16s; light, 10s 6d to 13s 6d; extra prime ewes to 18s Id; prime, 13s to 14s 9d; medium, 10s 9d to. 12s Gd; light, 8s Gd to 10s 3d; aged, 5s 9d to Bs. Eat cattle. —An entry of 335 head. The sale was irregular for all except the best beef, which made from. 26s to 30s per 1001 b. Good prime beef made 22s to 25s Gd; ordinary to 20s; best heifer beef to 30s; good co\v beef to 225, and ordinary 13s to 16s per- lOQlb. Values were: —Extra prime heavy steers to £l4 2s 6d; prime heavy, £lO to £l2 10s; . medium weight prime, £7 10s to £9 15s; ordinary quality, £6 to £7 ss; light to £5 10s; extra prime heifers, £lO 17s Gd; prime, £6 to £8; medium, £3 15s to £5 15s; light to £3 10s; extra prime cows, to £ll 7s 6d; prime, £5 10s to £7 10s; medium, £3 10s to £5; light to £3. . Fat pigs.—The demand throughout was not as strong as last week and prices were a little easier. Choppers sold to £4 17s Gd; baconers, 46s to 525; large baconers, 's7s Gd to 69s 6d; average price per lb, 4fd to 5-Jd; porkers, 32s 6d to 37s 6d; large porkers, 38s 6d to 44s 6d; average price per lb, 5f to GJd. ' BEEF FINDS EASIER MARKET. SHEEP FIRM AT WESTFIELD. Auckland, June 17. Although the total entry at Westfield fat stock sale to-day was not up to that of last week, most sections were well supported, the entries being drawn from all parts of the province. The beef market eased, best ox selling at up to 24s per 1001 b; best young cow and heifer at up to 235; old cowbeef made from 8s to 15s per 1001 b. Choice heavy prime.steers realised from £9 10s to £ll. Vealers made 15s to 355. The fat sheep market held firm at late rates, prime wethers making from 13s to 17s 6d and ewes 10s 6d to 15s. Lambs sold round the equivalent of 5Jd to s|d per lb. Bacon pigs, made 5Jd per lb and porkers 5d to 5Jd per lb. GOOD DEMAND FOR FAT SHEEP. VALUES AT JOHNSONVILLE. Wellington, June 17. There was little alteration in values at Johnsonville sale to-day. A large yarding was offered to a good attendance of buyers. Cattle. —The cattle yarding comprised 223 head of prime quality consisting mostly of medium weight bullocks. Prices showed, no alteration on last week’s rates, heavier weight cattle if anything being slightly easier. Vealers were in good de-, mand at late rates. (Sheep. —One thousand one hundred and forty-five head were penned. The quality of the sheep was good, particularly prime ; ewes being offered. Prices were slightly higher than last week’s rates, but this was accounted for mainly by the better quality of the sheep. Lambs, which were iu short supply, met" with a keen demand.
