A surprise marked ’ the third day of Lord Kylsant’e appearance at the Guildhall on charges of fraud in connection with the affairs of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. Sir John Simon and , Sir Patrick Hastings withdrew from the defence owing to the Lord Mayor’s ruling that certain questions which Sir Patrick wished to ask were inad issiblfi. Sir John Simon and Sir Patrick Hastings have withdrawn only from the Guildhall procedings, not from the case.
