RAHOTU NOTES
WIN FOR OKATO A TEAM. A successful basketball tournament was held on the Rahotu school courts on Saturday among teams from the Okato, Warca, Oaonui and Rahotu ladies’ basketball clubs. Each club entered two teams, and the splendid sporting spirit in. which the games were played was nowhere better shown than in the even distribution of the best players between the A and B teams so that a very even and interesting competition took place. Okato A won. The Rahotu club, under the leadership of Miss Al. Callaghan, had made excellent arrangements for the conduct of the tournament, which was on the twolife system. Airs. Butler and Airs. Linehan took charge of the catering, and all the players were supplied with hot tea at lunch time and again .in the afternoon. Mrs. F. Chapman and Air. Linehan, assisted by some of the players, refereed the games. Okato A team with an unbeaten record were the winners, and the play-off among three teams to decide the runners-up resulted in a win for Oaonui, who had only one loss. Following are the details: — First round. —Okato A 6 v. Oaonui B ], Rahotu B 6 v. Warea A 0, Rahotu A S v. Warea B 1, Oaonui A 3 v. Okato B 0. Second round.—Okato A 4 v. Rahotu B 1, Oaonui A 2 v. Rahotu .A 1, Oaonui B 4 v. Warea A 2, Warea Bov. Okato B 2. Third round.—Okato A 3 v. Oaonui A 2, Warea B 10 v. Oaonui B 2, Rahotu A 2 v. Rahotu 81. Semi-finals.- —Oaonui A 5 v. IT area B 0, Rahotu A a bye. Final.—Oaonui A 3. v. Rahotu A 1. GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. There are many ill in the hospital from this district just now. Airs. Al. Barrett and her sons, Kina Road, and Afessrs. Gilhooly and Deegan are there. Constable Small is suliciing fioni an
injured elbow which was caused by his car erank-handle flying back. Mr. and Airs. Afasham Gibson have returned to their home on the Kina Road. . . A Bible class revival evening is to be held in the hall on Saturday when the members of all Bible classes in the district are expected to be present. At the euchre party on Alonday the prizes were won by Airs. Lowery 1, Airs. Tamaki 2, Alias A. Nielson (surprise packet); Air. W. Butterine 1, Air. Lcn. Billing 2, Mr. J. J. Daulton (surprise packet). There were ten tables and supper was provided.
