The council of combined Empire •Societies has written to the Australian Postmaster-General, Mr. Green, asking him to inform the council what action is being taken in regard to the proposed substitution of Australian birds and animals for the King’s head on Australian postage stamps. The council, states the letter, understands that the change is suggested for advertising purposes, but it is unanimously of opinion that the greatest advertisement which Australia could, possibly have at present in the eyes of the world would be to demonstrate in every possible way its loyalty to the King, and by retaining the impress of the Sovereign of the Empire to proclaim its allegiance to the throne,
