The pitch was wet and there was no play before lunch. New Zealand lost seven wickets for 183 runs and declared, and the Maori Cricket Club lost seven wickets for 110. Both Dempster and Page batted vigorously. The team created a good impression and many commented on the improved fielding. A large number of former New Zealanders was present at the match. .
