UPPER MANGOREI NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The first of a series of fortnightly euchre party-dances was held in the Mangorei hall on Friday night. Although the night was very cold there was a good attendance of card arid dance enthusiasts. The prizes were w.cm by Mrs. H. Wood I, Mrs. J. Johnston 2, Mr. Darcy Candish 1, Mr. Roy Brewster 2. The music was supplied by .Mr. S. Flav and Mies Oriia Flay, an extra, being played by Miss Dorothy Phafcri arid Mr. Jim Candish. The master of Ceremonies was Mr. Harry Fiddee The, first band of hope meeting for the season was held on Saturday night, ’■’.ere being a large attendance. . The evening opened, with a hymn. Followed a duet by Mr. Riley and Mr. Carey; banjo solo, Mr. Ruriisy; pianoforte solo, Miss Gladys Pearce; recitations, Betty Pearce and Charlie Jackson; songs, Miss Dorothy Riley and. Miss Carey; recitations, Mrs. Warrington and Miss Winnie Jacksori; song, Mr. Riley; trio, Mi. Riley, Mr. Carey and Mrs. Carey; song. Mr. Carey. Supper was served by the ladies, the rest of the -evening being spent with games..
