WOMENS DIVISION MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Whangamomona branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’, Union was held on Friday; present, Mesdames Stockwell (president),- Hight, Geever, _ Coxhead and Summerhayes (vice-presidents), Proffitt (treasurer), Carver, Westj.Klee, F. Hodder, Neilson, C. McCutchan, Mantle, Hawkes and Perry (secretary). The balance-sheet, showing a credit of £8 9s. 9d., was adopted, and £2 10s. was voted to the Community Chest. The president reported that during the year eight meetings had been held, four at Whangamomona and four at Kohuratahi. A concert and dance had been held and a profit of £lO 13s. made. At the end of March there were 48 financial members and 17 unfiuancial, half of these having left the district. The president and secretary ha.d visited Tahora to assist in the formation of a branch there. Mrs. Stockwell had also interviewed the district nurse, Miss McCarrol, who was willing to give lectures on first aid and home nursing at future division meetings. The branch has a credit balance of £8 9s. 9d. A vote of thanks was passed to the president and secretary for their last year’s work. Mrs. McCutchan, on behalf of the newly-formed Tahora branch, thanked Mrs. Stockwell and Mrs. Perry for journeying to Tahora to attend the first meeting, and for their assistance. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mrs. Stockwell; vice-presidents, Mesdames Hight, A. Coxhead, Rice, Summerhays, Geever, Carver and J. Anderson; secretary, Mrs. Perry; treasurer, Mrs. Proffitt. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ REUNION. The annual reunion of the Whangainomona county returned soldiers was held on Saturday in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Over 40 “Diggers” answered the “fallin.” The hall was gaily decorated with bunting. A splendid dinner was arranged by members’ wives, and was heartily appreciated. Numerous toasts were honoured, and musical items, songs and recitations were the order of the evening. This reunion was considered one of the best 'ever held in the district, and the gathering seems to be increasing in popularity each year. The chairman, Mr. L. Dean, thanked Mr. Stockwell for his services as bugler, and his family for their very fine baud programme; also quartermaster Alf Old for his splendid work in organising the function.
