NEW PLYMOUTH AUXILIARY. REVIEW OF SUCCESSFUL YEAR. , A successful year’s work was reviewed at the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society last evening. Mr. W. H. Skinner (president) presided over a good attendance. During the past year the work had gone on very smoothly owing almost entirely to the work of the collectors, reported the president. Thanks were due to them for the work done. He wished particularly to mention Miss Evans, whose work had been marvellous. He wished to convey thanks to the other collectors.
Reporting on the finances, the treasurer, Mr. T. G. Hirst, said the New Plymouth auxiliary should regard itself fortunate that it had done so well. Remittances to Wellington had totalled £135 Ils. Id., compared with £143 for the previous year. The balance-sheet was adopted.
Officers were elected as follow: —President, Mr. W. H. Skinner; vice-presi-dents, Miss Drew, Archdeacon Evans, Revs. J. D. Wilson, C. Eaton and Mr. N. K. Mac Diarmid; treasurer, Mr. T. G. Hirst; the appointment of a secretary was left with the president and treasurer; church representatives, Miss A. Evans (Anglican), Mrs. W. L. Thompson (Presbyterian), Miss Rawson (Methodist), Miss Drew (Baptist), Mr. Blackmore (Assembly Hall), Adjutant McKenzie (Salvation Army), Mr. H. V. Lunn (Pentecostal). Mrs. Dixon (Church of Christ).
On the motion of the Rev. Calder votes of thanks were tendered the lady collectors, the office-bearers, particularly the president and the treasurer, the Rev. J. D. Wilson and his managers, and the Press.
