EVERYBODY’S TALKIES.

FAMILY NIGHT TO-NIGHT. “Street of Chance,” Paramount’s thrilling 'all dialogue attraction starring William Powell, will be finally presented at Everybody’s theatre, New Plymouth, to-night. , Here’s a story that portrays mystery with, a vivid dramatic intensity. / Tells you of a man ignorant of his brother’s sinister gambling. Fighting for/a chance to meet the gambler. And oh the other side of the fence, a sweetheart, pleading for the brother to give, it ,up. Fighting it out down the “Street of Chance.” Regis Toomey, Kay Francis and Jean Arthur head a splendid supporting" cast. There is also a good supporting programme. COMMENCING TO-MORROW NIGHT. An all-talking adaptation of . Zane Grey’s great novel, “The Light of Western Stars,” will commence a season at Everybody’s to-morrow (Wednesday) night. An up-and-coming cast, headed by Richard Arlen aud Mary Brian, a grea,t production, and a story that is brimful of melodramatic action, inter-, spersed with sure-fire comedy, and the whole knitted together with a strong romantic • theme, has everything a moving picture should have, for straight-from-the-shoulder, honest-to-goodness entertainment. “The Light of Western Stars” has a3l of these things, and, in addition, it is inspiringly spectacular, filmed'ph a big, imposing scale.

THE REGENT.

“OFFICER O’BRIEN” FINALLY.

“Officer | O’Brien,” starring popular William Boyd, will be finally screened at The Regent, New Plymouth, to-night. As the two-fisted lieutenant of police who runs to earth a notorious vice leader in the face of possible ruin and at the cost of his sweetheart’s love, Boyd is given an opportunity for some highpowered dramatic work that is enhanced by speed action and many thrills. The story contains romance and some relishing comedy. Dorothy Sebastian, Ernest Torrence and Clyde Cook are all prominent in the cast. There is a bright supporting bill.

COMMENCING TO-MORROW NIGHT.

“Second Choice,” a Warner Bros, production, and “Is Everybody Happy?” a First National production, will both be screened on the new programme at The Regent to-morrow night. “Second Choice” stars Dolores Costello with Chester Morris and Jack Mulhall, and deals with the amazing things a woman can

do when scorned. ; "Is Everybody Happy?” stars Ted Lewis, a new and famous recruit from the stage. It is a sensational picture of the modern age of jazz, and deals with an immigrant boy who rises to fame in the musical world. Ann Pennington and Alice Day appear at the head of the supporting cast.
