REPORT STRONGLY DENIED
NEW HEAD FOR CHRIST’S COLLEGE “What rot! We have never heard of him,” said Mr. George Harper, chairman of the Board of Governors of' Christ’s College, when a published' statement purporting to give the name of the new headmaster likely to be appointed to Christ’s College was referred to him. The report stated that the Rev. Charles Tasman Parkinson, a housemaster at the Bluecoat School, Horsham, and formerly of Hawera, would probably- fill the vacant position, says the Christchurch Times. “No appointment; can be made until all the nominations have been received by the board, and that will not be for some time yet,” he continued. “I hope you will give an emphatic denial to the rumour.” Mr. E. H. S. Hamilton, a member of .the College Board of Governors, gave a similar reply when questioned concerning the statement. . He said that the committee in England, which received the nominations, made reports to the board here, and the board was the sole arbiter in the appointment of a headmaster. The board had never heard of the Rev. C. T. Parkinson.
