FAILURE OF CONFERENCES. MATTER REFERRED TO CABINET. By Telegraph.—Pres* Association. Wellington, April 24. The conferences between the men enwaged on the Tawa Flat railway deviation and the Public Works engineers have been unable to reach finality, and the matter has been referred to the Cabinet. , It is understood that Mr. I'urkert, Chief Engineer, offered a slight increase in rates to the workers’ representatives, but that it was not acceptable.
