QUESTIONS IN THE COMMONS. FUTURE OF KING ALFONSO. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, April 23. In the House of Commons Mr. R. Morley (Labour) inquired if an application had been received to permit King Alfonso to live in Britain. Mr. J. B. Clynes (Home Secretary): “No.” Mr. Morley asked: “Will the Government consider tlie possibility of permitting other distinguished exiles to live here?” . ' Mr. W, B. Taylor (Labour) asked what extra cost was involved in the reception of King Alfonso in London.. The Speaker disallowed the questions. Mr. A. F. Brockway (Labour) asked: “Are you prepared to grant an asylum to King Alfonso?” Mr. Clynes replied: “This question has not arisen.” . ■ Mr. Brockway: “Has he a visa allowing him to visit Britain ?” Mr. A. W. Haycock (Labour) asked: “Is he King, or is he Mr. Alfonso?” Mr. Clynes said: “King Alfonso comes here under similar conditions to those always prevailing at Royal visits.” Mr. E. Brown (Liberal): “Is it not a good British principle not to hit a man when he is down?” (Conservative cheers and Labour cries of “Trotsky.”)
