PREACHER MAKES AN APPEAL “DEFENCE OF OUR LIBERTIES.” By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Ree. 8.30 p.m. London, Mar. 16. To-day’s by-election for St. George's, Westminster, evoked extraordinary interest and unprecedented Press attention. Preaching at the Savoy Chdpel, the chaplain asked for voluntary workers for Mr. Duff Cooper, “which,” he said, “I regard as distinctly religious work for the defence of the Magna Charts, of our-liberties.” He cited Sir Robert Horne’s views. It was a fight to maintain the decencies of public life against the unparalleled vulgarities introduced by the Press barons, he said-
