GENERAL ITEMS. A car driven by Mr. P. Forrester, Mangamingi, failed to negotiate a swing bridge leading to the home of Mr. A. C. Gibbs, Tututawa, where the party was to spend the night, on Wednesday, but the car was caught by one of the main strainers, which prevented it slipping into the creek 40 feet below. Slight damage was done to the, car, and no-, body was injured. Attention to the dangerous nature of the Kiore-Matau Road tunnel is drawn by the Stratford County Council in an advertisement. The lining of the tunnel is in bad repair, while the top is flaking off in places. Persons using the tunnel do so at their own risk.
