FIERCE WALL OF FLAME

BUSH FIRES IN S. AUSTRALIA

BAND OF 300 BEATERS FLEE

SOME NARROWLY" ESCAPE

HOMES AND MILLS BLAZE

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Adelaide, Feb. 26.

Bush fires arc raging in the Kulip’s Forest, Meadows, Prospect Hill, Alangkita, Mount Compass and Bull’s Creek districts. It is believed that they started on the property of Sir Douglas Mawsen at Blackwood Gully. A hardwood mill at Kulip’s Forest was razed, also one near Aleadows, where damage to the extent of £15.000 was done. A band of 300 beaters was driven before a fierce wall of flames and had to flee for their lives. Some who were working singly were cut off and surrounded by fire. They were rescued with difficulty. Many settlers’ homes were destroyed.
