The Board of Trade estimates the trade balance for 1930 at an excess of imports of £392,000,000. Against this excess are Government receipts from overseas totalling £21,003,000, the net national shipping income of £105,000,000 from overseas investments, £235,000,600 in receipts from short interest commissions, and £70,000,000 from other sources of income, totalling £431,00,000, and leaving a credit balance of £39.000,000 compared with £138,000,000 in 1929.
