WAIKATO VALUES EASIER.

Hamilton, Feb. 24. Slightly lower values were realised, for a medium yarding of beef which came forward at the weekly sales at the Frankton yards to-day. A larger offer-' in" of cow beef met with better competition and > sold, at late rates. An average yarding of sheep was penned and the prices realised were easier than those ruling at previous sales. The demand was steady for a heavy offering of fat pigs, late rates being fully maintained. Stores and weaners, however, showed a further decline on recent quotations. Medium fat bullocks made £8 17s to £9 Is; light, £6 10s to £7 14s; fat cows, £5 Ils to £6 17s fid; medium £4 las to £5 ss; light, £3 17s 6d to £4 7s .6d; vealers, 13s to £2 ss; forward-condition-ed cows, £3 8s to £3 14s; store cows, 25s to £2 7s 6d; bulls, 35s to £2 17s fid; oood-quality dairy cows, in milk, £8 10s to £9 Iss; others, £6 to £6 10s; cows close to profit, £6; fat wethers, 8s 9d to 10s Cd; fat ewes, 4s lOd to 6s Id; fat lambs, 7s Cd to 9s; forward lambs, 5s 10d to Cs 9d; heavy baconers, £2 5s to £2 10s; medium, £2 3s to £2 Cs; light, 36s to £2 2s; light porkers, 30s to 355; stores" 16s to 255; slips, 12s to 16s; weaners, Cs to 13s.

TAUMARUNUI RATES.

Taumarunui, Feb. 24.

There was a yarding of over 3000 sheep and a fair number of cattle at the Taumarunui stock sale to-day. A few pigs came forward and sold at lat,e rates. The majority of sheep and lambs and best sorts made up to 5s 2d, while 2-tooth ewes made 13s 2d, and full-mouth ewes from Is 6d to ss. There was the usual large attendance of farmers and a number of outside buyers were operating. Prices were: Pigs, weaners, 9s to 14s; sheep, full-mouth ewes, Is lOd to 5s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 13s 2d; small ewe lambs, 3s 4d; small wether lambs, 2s Id; mixed sex lambs, 3s 5d to 5s 2d; cull lambs, 2s to 5s 2d; good wether lambs, 4s Sd. SHAREMARKET TRANSACTIONS. Wellington, February 25.—Sales on exchange: Bank of New South Wales, £26 (cum. div.);’New Zealand Breweries, 34s 6d. Dunedin, February 25.—Sales on exchange: Commercial Bank, 14s.
