EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND
£200,000 IN CONTRIBUTIONS. LICENSED VITUAnLERS’ GIFT. The Hawke’s .y earthquake fund is now -more than £200,000, states a Press Association message from Wellington. The Wellington provincial council of the licensvd vituallers trade has donated £lOO to the fund. The three funds in New Plymouth now amount to £5887. The Mayor’s fund totals £2633 and the Red Cross fund £229. Details are as follows: —t
'£229 5 10 The committee of the Red Cross and St. John Relief, acting as a sub- committee of the Central Relief Committee, now have in hand the urgent call for goods for the accommodation of the 100 refugees who- are to arrive on Wednesday evening. A staff of voluntary workers will be in attendance from 9 a.m. to-day to receive and deal with the articles which have been appealed for elswhere in this issue. The committee of the Red Cross and St. John will meet at 8 p.m.' on Wednesday to deal with the above matter.
WAITOITOI FACTORY FUND. The Waitoitoi Dairy Company has decided to open a subscription list at the factory and to forward the proceeds to the Urenui earthquake relief committee to assist the Salvation Army and Red Cross funds.
