SPAIN TO HAVE ELECTIONS

CABINET’S POLICY STATEMENT.

Following a five hours’ sitting, Cabinet has issued a statement of policy. It will hold municipal elections at the earliest opportunity, and thereafter a general election will be held. Both elections will be under universal suffrage. but there will be no toleration of disturbance.

The new Parliament will partake of the character of a constituent body, and will devote itself to a revision of the constitution. In the meantime the Government will immediately tackle the monetary problem, with a view to stabilisation and to secure strict economy in all departmental services.
